Get Started
Begin Your Apprenticeship Journey
Starting your career with PPATKS is simple. The first step is submitting an application to the training program. Once your application is received, our team will guide you through the next steps, including testing, drug testing, interviewing, and placement with a signatory contractor.
How It Works
Once you have completed and passed the application process, our Union Dispatcher will notify you if there is a job placement available. Once you are with a signatory contractor, a Union Zone Agent will contact you to fill out Local Union 441 paperwork. This includes the final paperwork for the training department.
Classes operate on a rotational schedule. For example, you may attend school for one week, return to work for six weeks, and then attend school again for a week. A school year consists of seven groups and six rotations. During your week at school, you can apply for unemployment for that week if eligible.
If you live more than 60 miles from Wichita, the school provides hotel accommodations for your week on campus. If you live 170 miles or more, you may arrive on Sunday to make the drive easier.
